Our School History

Cimkék:

Our school was founded by dr. György Lázár, the mayor of Szeged who dedicated himself making Szeged a cultural center. The new commercial school of Szeged was intended for the education of young people who could meet the current challenges of the time as self-reliant traders and craftmen.

The first building of our school stood at the corner of Feketesas Street and Tisza Lajos Boulevard. During the First World War the number of students fell and the head teacher and some of the teachers were called up for military service. In 1919 Szeged was occupied by French troops who claimed the school building.
The institute was removed to 6. Boldogasszony Avenue. The purpose of the head teacher and the staff was to set up a female role model worthy to be followed by the students.
The school was nationalized in 1948 and became an Economic Technical School.
1 September 1968 is an important date in the life of the school as the institute moved into its present building, 11. Gutenberg Street.
In 1988 we chose a name for our school. Since then the name of the institute has been: Vasvári Pál Economic Secondary Technical School.
Since the academic year of 1992/93 we have introduced 5-year education. In the first 2 years we concentrate on general subjects, then in the third and the fourth years we teach professional subjects dedicating the majority of lessons to them. In several fields there are opportunities to get additional qualifications.
